Mixed Beans Chili

Easy, healthy, cheap...

Ingredients

  • 1 can of dark red kidney beans

  • 1 can of pinto beans

  • 1 can of black beans

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 2 tablespoons vinegar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar, or to taste

  • ¼ teaspoon allspice or chili powder, or to taste

Directions

  • Stir dark red kidney beans, pinto beans, and black beans in a medium-sized pot or skillet. To reduce sodium content, rinse canned beans with water before adding them to the pot or skillet.
  • Stir tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and allspice and/or chili powder in a mixing bowl until thoroughly blended.
  • Add spice blend to mixed beans, stir until blended, and heat over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Possible spices: oregano, garlic, cumin, paprika, onion, salt, pepper, mustard.
  • Add ground beef or pork.
