Mixed Beans Chili
Easy, healthy, cheap...
Ingredients
1 can of dark red kidney beans
1 can of pinto beans
1 can of black beans
1 cup tomato sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar, or to taste
¼ teaspoon allspice or chili powder, or to taste
Directions
- Stir dark red kidney beans, pinto beans, and black beans in a medium-sized pot or skillet. To reduce sodium content, rinse canned beans with water before adding them to the pot or skillet.
- Stir tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and allspice and/or chili powder in a mixing bowl until thoroughly blended.
- Add spice blend to mixed beans, stir until blended, and heat over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
Notes
- Possible spices: oregano, garlic, cumin, paprika, onion, salt, pepper, mustard.
- Add ground beef or pork.
